Average Joe Candle Co

Average Joe Candle Company was founded in 2021 by Returned Peace Corps Volunteer Joseph. Founded in small-town Southern Indiana, Average Joe Candle Co. is rooted in offering high quality candles at average joe prices. We utilize soy wax, cotton wicks, and reusable containers.

The Average Joe Candle Company was created to uplift small towns and nonprofits. 10% of all sales go to nonprofit organizations working in small town-rural development, historic preservation, and international humanitarian aid.

Coming from a long line of candle makers, Joseph always held an interest in the artistic creations of candle making. Before Joseph really got involved in the candle making process, he joined the Peace Corps where he primarily served as a Community and Organizational Development Advisor, focusing on capacity building for civic organizations in a small, beautiful village. After returning from serving his country with the Peace Corps, Joseph began making candles. From an exciting hobby that got out of hand, Joseph decided to open his candle business.

Joseph’s research led him to use soy wax for its sustainability. Joseph carefully chooses the containers used in the candles so that they can be reused and recycled. As an RPCV, Joseph understands the importance of sustainability and being conscientious of the products he buys. Each candle tin and scent combo is developed through a labor of love. Joseph gets his inspiration of candles from the places he’s been, places he plans to go to, or through the stories of places he has been told from others. Joseph believes scents are a great way to bring back memories and to help dream of new adventures.
